Maui Assistance #Mauistrong

denisemiyahira

By now everyone has seen the devastating pictures of Lahaina Maui and it is hard to fathom the destruction and loss of lives. I know I feel helpless being on Oahu and there are many drives and donations currently asking for supplies and money to help those on Maui. The Aloha spirit is strong and many generous people out there are giving whatever they can and want to support Maui in their time of need.

Maui Housing Assistance

The Realtors Association of Maui is looking to connect those who have homes on Maui to house those who have lost everything. Please contact them or let me know if you know of someone who is willing to open up their home on Maui to help.

FEMA ASSISTANCE

The FEMA spokesperson said they are ready to help with disaster assistance and encourage those who need help to apply online. If you know of someone, help them navigate through the website so they can start applying now for assistance and help from the federal government:

Cash Donations For Maui Fire Victims

If you are considering donating, please make sure they are reputable organizations and also sadly be aware some people are posing as victims to set up go fund me accounts. If you are looking for the non profit organizations here are a couple that you can go to directly from the article in CIVIL BEAT Hawaii https://www.civilbeat.org/2023/08/help-maui-fire-victims-heres-how-you-can-donate/:

In-Person Donation Centers

Costco locations on Oahu are taking donations and have been sending out pallettes to Maui from the different stores. If you want to buy water, supplies, diapers, etc they have bins at the store you can donate to and they will ship it to Maui. People have been generously giving all over the island and many local stores, banks and churches have pitched in to accept donations as well.
