Hawaii has their own famouns "Shave ice" which was a shorter version of "Shaved ice". This sweet treat came by way of Okinawan and Japanese immigrants and is a local favorite dessert served many ways. It's all about the syrup if you are a connoisseur of shave ice. You can get it with mochi balls, azuki (sweet beans), condensed milk and my favorite is vanilla ice cream. On Oahu, my favorite go to Shave ice store in Honolulu is Waiola Shave Ice. The ice is extremely fine and I love the strawberry cream. Not many places to stand so you can walk over to the Old Stadium Mall park and enjoy your shave ice there. Yesterday we took Nori up to the North Shore and enjoyed our Shave Ice at Aoki's in Haleiwa. I chose mango, lychee and strawberry cream with ice cream. Nothing better on a hot summer day!
